Blog post

One is no longer intentionally seeking out immodesty (e.g. looking at p*nr, today's movies, live events and TV shows). However, accidental exposure can still occur.

As soon as one sees something accidentally that’s inappropriate, say in order to prevent the yetzer hara from gaining a foothold in one's mind.

"V’Lo Tat’uru Acharei L’vavchem V’Acharei Einechem" ("Do not follow your heart and your eyes" - Deuteronomy 15:39)

This lahash (i.e. a statement recited with the intention of invoking spiritual power) interrupts the process by which a fleeting glance can escalate into a destructive fantasy embedded in one's mind which the Other Side is permitted to exploit further.

Repair

Sha’arei Teshuvah (Gates of Repentance) 1:15: Crying over one's sins can be a form of repentance and cleansing from seeing immorality.

Psalms 119:136 ("Rivers of water flowed from my eyes, because they did not keep Your Torah")

Likkutei Etzot (Collected Counsels), Teshuvah 2: The merit of helping others do teshuvah (repentance).

Prevention

Constant Engagement with Mitzvot Leave no time for sin by immersing oneself in Torah study, mitzvah observance, and acts of kindness.

Guarding One's Eyes Prevents Immense Suffering

Many Gedolim (great Torah sages) have spoken forcefully about the severity of guarding one's eyes and the devastating consequences of the "sin of youth" (masturbation a.k.a. wasting seed) which includes and is in addition a consequence of improper sexual thoughts, actions, and looking at inappropriate material.

Rav Shmuel Wozner, the Shevet Halevi called the sin of youth "the most heinous crime in the Torah," linking it to both individual and collective suffering, and harsh decrees against the Jewish people. The Chofetz Chaim, the Vilna Gaon, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, and the Baal Shem Tov, among others, have all spoken about the dangers of improper thoughts, actions, and visual stimuli. They emphasized the importance of purity, self-control, and a strong connection with G-d.
