Tu as touché mon égo.

Une barre d'or, droite. On chauffe. On tord. On soude.

Day.

Hachlafat malachim.

Trois: le fond et la forme. Tu as raison.

Kol tuv.

From the chiour of Rav David Touitou chlita, Sunday morning 1 November 2026 / 21 Marheshvan 5787, Parashat Vayera. Offered anonymously by a ben noar, a friend of the people of Israel, to thank the Rav and his whole team. Refuah shelemah for Moshe ben Esther, and for all those he named. Mazel tov to Youssef and his wife: a brit milah that morning.

A map of the teaching, not a stenographic record. Neither the post nor the notes have been reviewed by Rav Touitou chlita.

HKBH wants to be a spectator, not an actor. Let Me see how you are going to negotiate.

Pulling the sheet

Pride: at the root of divorces. You pull the sheet to your side when you were in the wrong. On principle, for revenge, for memory. You stop repairing. A tug of war for life.

You have to be proud of your place, as a man, a woman, a child, in a house. Shrinking until you disappear is still pride, badly placed. In our grandmothers' time, the other extreme: the man as ogre, master of the house, last word. It calmed things. We are here to speak Torah.

Spectator, not actor

Hagar, pregnant on the first try. Sarah, ninety years old. Rashi: Hagar wants to make Sarah the servant. So HKBH is with me. So I am the princess.

Sarah: send her away. In Lekh Lekha she pulls HKBH into the argument. Yishpot Elohim beini uveinecha. Let HKBH judge between us. Come quickly.

He opens your file first. Sarah will die at one hundred and twenty-seven, Avraham at one hundred and seventy-five. Go to a beit din, a rav, a moreh hora'ah. The first one who says: HKBH saw, He will judge between us: you are the one who loses. Rabbi Yehoshua: lo bashamayim hi.

In many houses, the same yetzer: Elohim will punish you. You touched my ego. Here we go again.

HKBH: I bring you as far as the huppah. Rabbi Yossi ben Halafta: since the world was created, He marries couples. After that, it is yours. I forgive the faults of the past, up to the huppah. After that, let Me watch. A house of chessed, al pi Torah, Shabbat. The ingredients are there. Who gave you permission to shout, to curse, to humiliate. No. So respect.

Hear Sarah's voice

Vayera. Sarah has understood: she no longer summons Heaven. Send her away, her and her son. Avraham: I do not agree. Not once a lack of respect. Neither of them asks for anything. HKBH: shema bekolah.

When a couple speaks in order to build, HKBH helps. Both of them prophets, they heard. Us: if you speak with respect, you can go to sleep. Tomorrow, an answer from the Shekhinah. She leaves when they start hitting each other. A child, work, health: it is your fault. Ego needs a scapegoat.

In the middle of the parasha, a skin of water, a piece of bread. At the akedah: Yishmael and Eliezer. Rashi: I have two of them. In Haye Sarah: Yitzhak ve-Yishmael. He did teshuvah. Avraham would never have brought him back without Sarah. She is not well now: listen. When she has calmed, you can bring it back. Split the pear.

The ring that bends

The Rama. You can lekadesh with an object worth a shaveh perutah. He, the ring. A gold bar, straight. Heat it. Bend it. Solder it. What was rigid becomes flexible.

Thirty-seven years of shalom bayit: today, dafka, some want married men. The kids, the laundry, the cooking: the wife of the house. The mistress: the cinema, the diamonds, the pillow. Hashem yishmor verahem. The ring says mekudeshet. Not the networks.

At every huppah: honor your wife. And the wife a queen, the man a mop. Day. That is sheker. Bava Metzia 59a, the Rambam: mekhabed adam et ishto yoter migufo. A kosher wife listens to her husband. The Torah did not say to be afraid of your wife. That is a klalah. Either the demon or the ogre. In this generation, remind women too to honor their husbands.

The sofa. Six years. Ten years, no more touch. Ve-hayu le-basar ehad. Worse: roommates. I already ate. The rent, the gas, tomorrow I divorce. Children in the middle. An iron wall.

Three conditions

Empty of yourself. Step into the other's shoes.

One: kavanah. Did I come to destroy, or to build.

Two: the moment. "We have to talk" while he is walking out: a declaration of war. Rabbi Moshe Deri, a garbage-bag company: not this month. Tuesday morning, closed. Four in the afternoon, the mazal opens. Hachlafat malachim.

Three: substance and form. You are right. Your mouth makes you wrong. Anger, words, humiliation: pride deformed the reality that had given you the right.

Darling. Something is bothering me. Is this the moment. Maybe what I am about to say will not please you. I do not mean to wound you. You cannot make an omelette without breaking eggs. With pride, you cannot get there.

In his name: seventy, seventy-five percent. Pride that no longer fears losing the other. An eighth of pride so you are not crushed. Humility does not give you the right to be crushed, or to crush.

Monsieur Zerbib. Sport. Mussar. A rav. Breathe before you yell. The door hinges. Go die on the Himalaya with your nerves. You do not walk into the house so she can absorb you. The summit: you are here to listen to me. I am not.

Hours that do not return

The hours you spent angry do not come back. If that person leaves all at once, an accident, has veshalom, you will regret them your whole life. You would have done better to spend them loving each other.

Never fall asleep angry. Never leave the house angry. Who promised you that you would see each other again.

Yesterday, the azkara of Shoshana, his first wife. She did not come home. Nothing is guaranteed.

As long as you still fear losing the other, you have every reason to keep them near.

Kol tuv.
