אִם יִרְצֶה הַשֵּׁם
כ״ו חֶשְׁוָן תשפ״ז
From Daily Zohar #5296 of Reb Zion Nefesh, Zohar Chayei Sarah. Yesterday: The Shin of three crowns (DZ 5295).
A map of the Daily Zohar, not a stenographic record. Neither this post nor these notes have been reviewed by Reb Zion Nefesh or the Daily Zohar.
Above the heart
And above the heart, there are four portions upon the brain of the head, but the Holy One, blessed be He, is the upper ruler over them, the King of all.
The Daily Zohar names this study Four chambers of Chochmah. The Zohar's word is four parshiyot: portions, upon the brain of the head. HKBH is the upper ruler over them.
Covered Chassadim
The Daily Zohar commentary reads the tefillin of the hand as the aspect of the heart, which is Malchut. Revelation of Chochmah is practiced there.
The tefillin of the head is the aspect of the brain, the secret of Zeir Anpin. He is a King ruling in covered Chassadim: kindnesses, that he receives from Abba and Imma, the upper ones, in the secret of Ki chafetz chesed hu: for He desires Chessed (Micah 7:18). The shining of Chochmah cannot be revealed in his place. Above the chest those Chassadim stay covered, and actual riding belongs below. The brain of the head is that covering.
In the four portions of the head, HKBH, the secret of Zeir Anpin, is the one who rules, and the revelation of the shining of Chochmah is not practiced there.
One cherub at each end
And the secret of the Chochmah, this is as in the Temple. Ve-asita keruv echad mikatzah mizeh u-keruv echad mikatzah mizeh: and you shall make one cherub at the end from this side, and one cherub at the end from that side (Exodus 25:19).
Upon them is the Shechinah of the King in the four letters of Havayah. Yod-Hei upon the right cherub, and Vav-Hei upon the left cherub. Two chariots: the upper chariot upon the right cherub, the lower chariot upon the left.
The two chariots from the chest and above, and from the chest and below, sit here on the two cherubim. Right is Yod-Hei and the upper chariot. Left is Vav-Hei and the lower. The Zohar names the secret of Chochmah as those cherubim, and withholds the shining from the head.
The heart from here
And in this manner it is the heart and the brain, which are the tefillin of the hand and the tefillin of the head: the heart from here, and the brain from here, and upon them the Shechinah of the King, in the four portions.
Heart and brain in a man are the two cherubim. Heart is shel yad. Brain is shel rosh. The Shechinah of the King is upon the four portions.
From here onward
Rabbi Elazar said, From here onward they are the secrets of the crowns of the letters. The portions in their bodies, that is the houses, and their straps, are halacha le-Moshe mi-Sinai: a law to Moses from Sinai. Their hint has already been revealed in the explanation before us. The reason of all is in the secret of the thirteen attributes of mercy.
If the houses and straps are already that law, and the head rules in covered Chassadim while the Shechinah of the King is upon both heart and brain, what are the thirteen attributes doing in four portions that do not practice the shining of Chochmah?
